The History of St. John’s Lutheran Church

In 1898, within parishioner’s homes, three families founded what was to become St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church of Geneva. Our first official church building was located on West Main St. in Geneva - it can be found today across from the Geneva Memorial Hospital. Our church legally organized in 1915 in accordance with the beliefs of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod. St. Johns’ members continue their commitment to spread God’s Word in the Geneva area, from our present church building at 811 South Broadway.

Today’s church members remain faithful to our forefathers’ conviction that God’s pure Word and Gospel must be taught. Family oriented values are still embraced by our church body and new families quickly become active members of our church family.

Our Church motto, “Come Join Us As We Grow in Christ” is not just our motto, but our sincere wish.
